Bali White Water Rafting Review
Bali White Water Rafting is a whole lot of fun and a great day out. I’d been rafting on another visit to Bali 8 or 9 years previously and had such a good day thought it was time to re-visit white water rafting again this visit.
If you’ve ever been keen on doing white water rafting then the beautiful Telaga Waja River in Bali is just the place for beginners and people of all ages. Although the website suggests grades of 3-4 (6 being the highest) we found the time we went (September) seemed more like 1-2 and found it an easy day.
The service we received from Alam Amazing Adventures was excellent. A driver picked us up from our hotel, Double-Six Seminyak and took us to the start point of the rafting, then met us afterwards when it was time to head back to the coast.
The Bali white water rafting start point is around 1 1/2 hours scenic drive once you travel past the inner-city hustle of Bali’s peak hour traffic. You’ll see coastal areas, rice fields and catch glimpses of Volcanoes along the way and see the Balinese going about their day.
Once there you’ll be given an indemnity form to fill in and free coffee, tea and cake are offered. We waited around 1/2 hour or so for other guests to arrive as you’ll set off in a group of around 6 rafts with 4 people to a raft. Of course, each raft has a professional guide/rafter who sits at the back and issues instructions.
*Tip – If you need to use the bathroom get in early as they only have a certain amount of water in their tanks!
All equipment is supplied, life jacket, helmet, paddle and waterproof bag for camera gear, etc. Footwear isn’t supplied and you will need shoes or sandals that don’t float away should you need to get out of the raft to move it off rocks or other obstacles.
The 5-minute walk to the river is pretty simple, not taxing at all and is very scenic as you’ll follow the paths through established rice fields, OR you can pay a little extra and take the flying fox down!
The Bali white water rafting adventure is about 2 1/2 hours total with a short break to grab a drink, stand under a waterfall and catch up with your fellow rafters.
No need to worry about the walk out either, it’s just a short walk up a few stairs and a walk along established paths. At the top you’ll be met with a welcoming fruit juice, hot showers and a simple buffet lunch with tea and coffee included. Drinks are available for purchase too.
After lunch, you’ll be invited to view the images of your adventure and can purchase them all for a small fee. Alam pop them on a handy CD for you to take home.
We thoroughly recommend spending the day with Alam Amazing Adventures, either for their Bali white water rafting or one of their many tours on offer.
Have you been Bali white water rafting, where in the world did your trip take place?
