There is one large room for the kitchen, dining and lounge/sitting areas. A few steps takes you to the area where the king size bed sits with the rainforest for a backdrop.
Beautifully appointed with timber floors, small kitchen including full size refrigerator, hot plates, convection microwave oven and dishwasher. If you really wanted to keep out the outside world you could bring your supplies with you, but who wants to cook for themselves when they are getting away from it all?
The spa/bathroom joins the bed area and is separated by a door for privacy should you need. The sunken spa is at floor level and don’t fret about cold tiles when you’ve finished soaking, as there is underfloor heating. A rain shower sits in one corner adjacent to the toilet and vanity area.
If you are looking for things to “Do” such as surfing the net, golf, hitting the gym, a kids club or going for a jog, Woodlands is not the place for you, I suggest you keep looking. .
However, if you have already read this far, then you know Woodlands IS the place for romance, unwinding, is a couples retreat, privacy and seclusion, all contained within the cottages.
There is a TV and a selection of DVD’s and CD’s on offer to view or listen to.
Disappointing as we thought breakfast was included in the tariff. There was however, some muesli in the cupboard and milk in the fridge.
Dinner, gourmet packs and hampers are available at additional charges
We only met Gary upon checking in and out.
Gary was helpful by calling us earlier than check in time to let us know that our cottage was ready and also when we arrived, calling the local hotel to see if the bar was showing a boxing match that apparently the whole world was waiting to see (who knew? What a shame it wasn’t…not!).
Kevin did mention to Gary upon checking out that we believed breakfast was included and was met with a bit of a defensive attitude. For the tariff paid it wasn’t a welcome attitude we expected.
We enjoyed our stay at Woodlands Rainforest Retreat, the surroundings are beautiful, as are the cottages themselves.
The fixtures, fittings and attention to detail do not align with the tariffs for Woodlands, in comparison to other accommodation in the Healesville, Yarra Valley area we have experienced.
After some extremely stressful few weeks in our business we were so looking forward to a 3 night getaway. To our dismay we had mistakenly only booked a 2 night stay AND at the highest tariff, with no discount that would normally be applied if we were staying for 3 nights. This is no reflection on Woodlands Rainforest Retreat, however, for the tariff charged we would have at least expected breakfast to be included.
If it’s seclusion, privacy, romance and a getaway you are seeking, then you won’t be disappointed with Woodlands Rainforest Retreat.
